From St Mary’s Church please see our website for more details: www.northleighchurch.org

We are now in the season of Advent; a time of preparation before the celebration of Christmas. But far from being a time of quiet preparation and reflection it usually turns into a period of frenzied activity as we make sure that everything is perfect for our Christmas festivities. However much we have to do we need to make sure that we have some time to rest and take stock.

This year, as you will have noticed, there hasn’t been a Christmas Tree Festival. We decided to have a rest, with our own opportunity to take stock. But we are putting on a series of prayer/reflection stations, called `Experience Christmas’. By the time you read this some of the children from North Leigh School will have visited the church to take part in a planned session. We will be leaving the stations up around church and you are welcome to visit and Experience Christmas for yourselves while the church is open during the day. I hope that you will avail yourself of the opportunity to use these `stations’ to help you prepare for Christmas and to use them to think, prayerfully and thankfully, about our celebration of Jesus’ birth.

At 3pm, on Sunday 10th December, a local music group are putting on a Christmas Carol Concert in the church. This is being organised by local musicians and singers, The Foxgloves who will entertain us to some Christmas music; refreshments are available and there will be a retiring collection in aid of the church roof appeal.

The church Christmas cards, containing information about all the special Christmas services, have been delivered across the parish. I would particularly like to draw your attention to the Carols by Candlelight on Sunday 17th at 6.30pm, the 4pm Christmas Eve Crib Service, where we will tell the nativity story through words and songs as the children take various roles, the Midnight Communion beginning at 11.15pm and the 10am Christmas Morning communion.

I hope you can take the time to join us at one of the services to thank God for the most wonderful gift of Love, JESUS. I would like to wish you a very Happy Christmas.

God bless

Margaret
